After accepting a nanny job, tell the agency what work you are no longer available for and ask how it will record that change. Acceptance does not tell you whether your profile is paused, retained for future searches or still attached to other applications. Finish those administrative steps explicitly.
You can ask to stop new introductions while remaining in touch about the placement. Job alerts, current applications, account access and placement support are separate matters. A useful closing conversation deals with each one rather than relying on the word “placed.”
Send an accurate acceptance update
Tell your recruiter that you accepted, identify the relevant role reference and give the confirmed start date. If you are still reviewing an offer, say that instead. An enthusiastic interview or a verbal discussion about possible terms is not the update described here.
When accepting work elsewhere, notify other recruiters handling your active search through their usual channels. You can state that your availability has changed without providing the new household's identity, address or private offer documents. Identify any interviews or pending decisions that your update affects.
For an accepted temporary position, supply the dates you can actually confirm. Do not advertise a return to availability on an assumed end date if an extension or another commitment remains unresolved.
Complete a post-placement closeout card
Use this original five-part card with your agency. Write its answer beside each item and leave unanswered items open.
- New introductions: “Please stop presenting me for [type of work] from [date]. How will you record that?”
- Applications already underway: “Which role references or interviews still need to be closed, and who will notify the relevant contact?”
- Job alerts: “I would like these paused/continued. Is that separate from my candidate status?”
- Placement support: “Who should I contact about the job I have accepted, and what support is available?”
- Future search: “When I am available again, should I update this account, contact you or apply to a specific vacancy?”
Choose only truthful preferences. If you want occasional weekend work alongside a new weekday job, state the exact availability and review your existing commitments first. “Still open to opportunities” is too broad if you mean one particular type of booking.
Keep support separate from matching
A placement contact and a recruiter considering you for new jobs may have different functions. Ask who handles a question about the current role so it does not become an accidental request to restart your search.
Adventure Nannies describes ongoing support after hiring, including check-ins and materials. That is its stated service, not a promise about every agency. Ask your own provider what remains available after placement and how to reach it.
If the role changes before your first day, send a factual update. Explain whether you are seeking help with the accepted placement or asking to become available for other work. Those requests should not be left for the recruiter to infer.
Ask about retained records separately
Pausing introductions is not the same request as deleting an account or removing documents. If you want to understand retained information, ask what the agency keeps, why, and where its privacy and retention information can be found. If you want a correction or removal, identify the specific material.
Do not assume that an inactive label means your résumé has vanished, or that receiving a newsletter means you are still being presented to families. Ask about the actual activity that matters to you.
The agency's published update route is a useful starting point. Adventure Nannies, for example, directs candidates to its candidate email contact for résumé and existing account updates. Use your provider's current instructions rather than opening a duplicate profile.
Confirm the result and save your restart route
Original adaptable closing message: “I have accepted role [reference], starting [date], and am no longer available for new full-time introductions. Please confirm that status and any applications that still need closing. I would like [job-alert preference]. Please also tell me whom to contact for placement support and how to update my availability when I next need work.”
Save the reply with the agency's contact details. Mark your card complete only for the actions actually confirmed. An update sent and a profile changed are different stages.
When you return to searching, send current availability and an updated résumé through the confirmed route. Do not assume that an old profile or previous screening automatically makes you ready for a new introduction.
